The day after Christmas we were up and ready to do a fun activity - ice skating! It has been on our winter to do list and we were surprised to find an ice skating rink about 5 mins from our house. Yet another reason I love living in the city.
But before we made it to the rink we stopped off at Target for some after Christmas shopping. We desperately needed a new tree and some decorations for the mantle and outside the house.
Tree, lights, garland, and a new bulbs |
Lighted gift boxes for the porch |
Ornaments for where the hanging baskets used to be |
Trees for either side of the mantle |
I am actually excited for next year to decorate. I also got some new wrapping paper and bows!
Then it was off to the rink to skate!
She did great! |
We were a little nervous when we realized that I was the most experienced skater....at two previous occasions! Mike had been once and all the kids this was their first time....we may have been a little over our heads! |
She spent a lot of time hugging the wall! |
I was impressed at how well he could walk in the skates....but ice was a whole other issue!
It may be a while before we go ice skating again...It turns out I was the only Oliver who didn't fall and the only Oliver who didn't leave with a souvenir - an injury!
Mike fell while holding onto Owen...Owen smacked his cheek against Mike's head and Mike landed on his elbow! This was about 15 mins into our session!
Sad face and puffy cheek |
Pic doesn't quite show it but his elbow was really swollen! |
Savannah got two nasty blisters |
Kate got a couple scrapes from falling and her skates |
After 2 hours all three kids were fussy and wanted to go home! Mike and I were worn out and ready for some more low key entertainment! But I am glad we did it once!
