Hell Week but Great News!

This last week was mostly definitely one of those weeks I refer to as a hell week:

Monday I took Kate to see her dentist in Orlando to check her Ortho Tain. We found out that although she is making good progress with the Ortho Tain her palate is so small that her teeth are having trouble coming in so we are going to have to do a palate expander as well :( bummer....

Tuesday I took Kate to the Urologist for a follow up after three months of antibiotics to heal her bladder wall hematoma. Unfortunately her urine is still showing large amounts of blood which suggests that her hematoma has not healed yet. another bummer :(

Wednesday Owen and I spent the morning at church working in the nursery during our Mother's group, got the girls from school, and then headed back to church for evening bible study. Exhausted!

Thursday it was back out to Orlando to check in with Kate's GI doctor and that is where we got our great news!!!

Look closely at her vitals!

Whoo Hoooo!!! Kate finally hit 60 lbs and her BMI is FINALLY at 15!!! We have been striving to get to 15 BMI for over a year now!!! She has been hanging around 14.95 for what seems like forever! She is still skinnier than anyone would like, but she's doing better :) Yay!!!

And then Friday I had to take Owen back to the doctor for a recheck after he was so sick at the beginning of the month and when he woke up he had a runny nose and a cough! The doctor said he once again has fluid on his ears - another cold!!! Bummer!

It was a long week of appointments of overall not fabulous news, but I cannot believe my girl has finally made progress with her weight gain!

Spring Concert

Thursday evening Owen's preschool held their Spring Concert! Owen's class sang about 6 songs and it was super cute! Owen did great and was even a little bit of a ham!

He even did some of the hand motions

And afterwards, Owen got a super surprise!!! Papa T took home our old Jeep (Kaitlyn's Christmas gift from him over 6 years ago!!) and gave it a total makeover!!!

It seriously looks so much better!!!!

He looks good in it!

A New Obsession

Owen has a new obsession....and it's a little embarrassing for Mike :)

He carries around this full sized Minnie Mouse doll. He calls her his "baby" and says that he is the Daddy and Kate is the Mommy. He brings her just about everywhere these days and it is just about killing Mike! I personally thinks it is super sweet but it's a rather large doll to drag around in addition to all of our other stuff so I won't be too sad when he moves on from her :)

Hermit Crabs!

Savannah has been asking and asking for a hermit crab for a while now. So I designed a little reward system for the girls to motivate them to get up and going in the mornings, get homework done without issue, and a few other little behaviors that need work. And earning several little rewards, they finally earned hermit crabs!

They needed more stuff than I realized....

So their table is getting a little cramped

Their fish had to go into one tank to make room :)
Overall the hermit crabs have been relatively easy and super fun for the girls...and we've had them a whole week and they are still alive!!!

Some Mornings....

There definitely are mornings where everything goes smoothly with getting the kids up and dressed and eating and we enjoy eating breakfast together....but then there are just some mornings where it's better for everyone to eat separately :)

Savannah eats in the kitchen...not up for a photo op

Owen decided to eat in the girls room

Happy girl always eats at the table

Not What Papa T had in Mind....

So I don't think that this is exactly what Papa T had in mind when he bought Owen this wrestling toy for Christmas...

Sad Sad Savannie

Our conscience has finally gotten to us....we no longer allow Savannah to keep animals that she has caught until they die. We feel like it's probably not the best idea to allow her to repeatedly kill God's creatures for her own entertainment. So now the rule is when she catches a lizard or a cricket or whatever, she has to release it within 24 hours. This has been wonderful for those poor critters, but it makes our Savannie a sad sad girl.

She howled and cried about releasing her huge moth and refused to let it go until I got a picture of her with it...

Good Grades for my Good Girls

This week the girls came home with their third quarter report cards....and they were awesome as usual!

Savannah got all E's and 3's again! And she got the PE Coach's Award for her class!

Kaitlyn made the A/B Honor Roll again with 3 A's and 2 B's!
I am so proud of my girls for their extra hard work at school!!

Sunday in the Sprinklers

Sunday Owen and I both weren't feeling well and we decided to stay home from church. The girls were a little antsy since we hadn't done much of anything all weekend. So Mike gave them the green light to get on their new bathing suits and play in the sprinklers!

My sick baby...

Kate's new suit

Savannah's new suit

After his nap he was drenched in sweat and needed a wardrobe change! He sat watched from the window while he got another breathing treatment.

Even Hogan wanted in on the action
Great idea Daddy!

Never too sick to swing!

Owen has been really sick since Tuesday evening and when I took him back to the dr Friday he had actually gotten worse. The mild bronchitis in his throat settled into one of his lungs and he was working on an ear infection. And to make matters worse he was still sick with the stomach virus. The dr started him on a Z pack even though he still had the virus and thankfully he's finally doing a little better!

We haven't done much else than snuggle the last few days, but I guess you are just never too sick to swing!

This is rare....she is looking at me AND smiling!!!!

Notice the rug draped over our fence....Owen threw up on it!!

He's getting a little too big for his bike!! Yikes!

This girl picked me flowers!!! Awwww...I just love her!

Just love that face!!!

Time to go in...guess who is not happy!

Savannah's latest catch....a huge moth

So far this week...

This week has been a little strange for me so far. Monday the kids started back to school after 10 days off for Spring Break. As you can imagine no one was thrilled to get back into the swing of things...but Savannah in particular has made life difficult for everyone :)

Tuesday after school -

She somehow got herself wedged between her bunk bed and the wall and threw an enormous tantrum about being stuck! Note: I did ask her permission to take this picture before rescuing her! She wasn't the least bit hurt, just being drama :)

Then a happy moment!

Taaa Daaaa!!!! My grandma gave me this amazing pot and every time I look at it I want to make stew!!!

So I did! I made homemade beef stew and it was really good although in hindsight I should have made it last week when it was so stinking cold!
And then Wednesday things got rough again...

Owen woke up twice in the night coughing and just plain miserable...then starting throwing up and wheezing! It was weird....so I took him into the Dr and he actually has a virus that has been floating around but he also has a touch of bronchitis too! Poor little man...

My little multi-tasker... he was going potty while doing a breathing treatment

Here's to hoping that the rest of the week is a little easier!

Easter 2013

This year Easter was pretty low key for us. With the kids headed back to school the next day we tried to keep the festivities to a minimum. We started early before church with the baskets.

It was neat seeing Owen getting so excited

Kate got more earrings!

Savannie got yet another critter container...she was thrilled!

Owen finally got a much wanted umbrella!
After church while I was cooking Mike took the opportunity to read the Easter story to the girls. It was so sweet. Afterwards while Mike was asking them some questions, the girls were raising their hands and Savannah actually accused Kate of cheating!!! :)

Then Grandma, Grandpa John, Mamaw, and Pappy all came over for lunch and then Mamaw organized an egg hunt for the kids!

Look Mommy...EGGS!!!
It was a wonderful Easter!!!
