He's Back!

Finally Friday morning our Daddy/Hubby was back! He snuck in really late on Thursday night and we were all so tired that even I couldn't wait up for him. So we did the next best thing....we woke him up Friday morning!!

This is Owen's sneaky face!

Sneaking up the stairs!!

Kate's not quite ready to deal with life

Savannah basically refused to help

And there they go! Best wake up call ever!!!

He wasn't as thrilled about it as I expected! :)

Savannah finally decided to join us

Owen's having a full blown conversation with him and he's still not moving :)
Since my wake up call didn't go so well I decided to take Mike out to dinner to celebrate his homecoming.

Goofy Kate with Daddy eating at Mellow Mushroom in downtown Lexington!
We are so glad to have him back!!

A Visit From Aunt Susan

Probably one of the best things about moving to Lexington is the relative closeness to where I am originally from, Indiana. I can't wait for my kids to go and explore Indy and to meet and get to spend time with some of my family. We were so excited when my Aunt Susan decided to come for a visit.

The first two days while Mike was still here, she and I spent time shopping and just hanging out with the kids. She also insisted that Mike and I go out on a date while she watched the kids. Awesome!!! Then Monday when Mike had to fly to DC to start training for his job we took the kids to a children's museum called Explorium.

In front of Explorium

Are we surprised that there is a horse exhibit?

We hit the jackpot for her in the Veterinarian Clinic

She didn't even look up....just worked busily in her clinic

Um....I think she got distracted

Tractor Time

Kate had to peddle to play....I love this idea

Picnic and a movie!!!
Tuesday was a sad day, the day Aunt Susan had to head back home :( But before she left, we took her to McConnell Springs (which I did in fact google the history of) and look at what we saw!

Awesome...
This is how we all felt after she left us....tired, and sad :(

We had a great visit and we can't wait until the next time....or maybe we won't! She is only a few hours away!!! :)

More Horses in Lexington

Last week Mike and I took the kiddos downtown to the Central Library to sign up for their summer reading program and we found more interesting KY horse statues.

This one was inside the Library lobby

Outside the court house

Outside an Irish Pub

This is my favorite one so far!! It looks like chocolate! What's not to love?
While we were downtown we stopped to let the kids play in a fountain...

My darling girl! She has been so good and has adjusted without issue since we've moved! Love this girl to pieces!

We Found a Pool!!!

While nothing will compare to having basically unlimited access to Grammy and Grampy John's pool in Florida we were able to find a suitable replacement in Lexington. We found 3 city pools and 4 aquatic centers (I call them water parks) close by! We purchased family pool passes and we can now go to the pool or water park any day of the week right up until school starts! Yay!! This is beginning to feel a little more like home!

Wasting no time...they went straight for the slide

The water was actually pretty cold and he was so annoyed at how long it took for Mike and I to actually get in already!

She rode the slide over and over for an entire hour

Kate did a little of everything :)

After a while, she realized there was a diving board

There she goes! And the lifeguard only had to blow her whistle at he twice for running, which if you know Savannah, that isn't too bad :)

The kids rubbing Daddy down with sunscreen during a break...I think they got a little too much :)

Historic McConnell Springs

Monday the kids and I ventured out to Historic McConnell Springs for a hike. I didn't realize until we arrived that it was historic, we just wanted to take a nature walk. My kids love nature, but they haven't seen nature like this since we were in Gatlinburg! It was awesome!!!

Savannah found two turtles in the pond and they were actually letting her pet them....

until we saw the sign specifically asking people not to touch them....oops!

Taking a rest along the trail

We reached the first spring called the Boils...notice the bubbling water between the girls

We reached the last spring called The Final Sink

Savannah really wanted to get it but again, there were signs :) Savannah then expressed how much she really didn't care for rules :)

Sitting along the rock wall
We had a great time visiting the springs and hopefully will go back again once we have googled it's historic past!

The Rescue Truck

My dad got Kate and Savannah this jeep for Christmas in 2007! We have LOVED every minute of having it and we really thought that it was on its last legs as we were gearing up to move. Thankfully Dad noticed it's nasty condition and offered to give it a make-over! So I am happy to announce that the jeep, otherwise known to Owen as the rescue truck, made it to Lexington and has already been enjoyed in our new yard!

The good ole days

In the new yard

The kids are so happy that is still has some life left!!!
