This week...

So we are finally settling into somewhat of a normal routine now that we are all working/going to school. Owen and I have been in preschool two weeks now and thankfully no one has been sick yet! But I have noticed something since we have been in school - Owen as an aversion to coloring! I probably would have never noticed it if I wasn't his teacher but he definitely doesn't enjoy coloring. And the teacher in me knows how good it is for developing fine motor skills so I bought him his own crayons at the store and decided that we are going to practice!

He was very happy to have his own crayons! He counted them, lined them up, and then carried them around in this mason jar....but he refused the color with them!

Savannah on the other hand made a very nice picture!
So while I am still concerned about his fine motor skills, I am pleased to announce that he is very willing to take care of his own things! He and Savannah spent almost an hour "washing his car!" in the garage.

And a couple last random funny things from this week! I came across Savannah's journal and was flipping through it - check out what she has to say!

Mom is good, Dad is good, K.O. (Kate) is good, Owen is annoying! I love it!!!
And then one afternoon she was driving me nutty and Mike told her to make me a card. She really can be so sweet!

PreSchool Products and Love in Lexington

Here are a few preschool products that Owen has brought home this week! He has a great teacher!! Wink, wink...after some class shifting and combining, it turns out I am one of his teachers :)

Owen was supposed to color his family, but he has an apparent aversion to coloring :)

And I am happy to see that Savannah loves her name....I rarely find her having written her name, first or last, without a heart around it or next to it.

Fall is in the air here! The other day we had a big lunch and so when the kids got hungry again around dinner time we set them up with cereal on the deck!

The weather is amazing and we are absolutely loving Lexington!

First Day of PreSchool!

Tuesday was Owen's first day of preschool! School actually started last Thursday but he came down with a little stomach virus and ended up having to stay home with Mike. Funny thing is, I am going to preschool with him! I got a job teaching the class next to his!

His preschool is at the church we attend so he is already really comfortable there

Remember these days? It takes so much stuff just to get out of the house for the day! And this is just stuff for me and Owen!

I have to admit that I was a little gun shy about taking another out of the home job after the disaster that last years attempt was but this is just the most perfect job! It's only two days a week and it is in between the girls school hours so I can still take them and pick them up every day. And I get to be there with Owen :)

Baseball may be in his future...

While Papa T was here this weekend Owen decided that he wanted to practice his swing!

I have to say I am really impressed with his skills! Looks like I am going to have to keep my eye out for tee-ball sign ups next year :)

This pic he actually hit the ball!

And then Monday morning after Papa T left, Owen drug out the bike tire pump to blow up this balloon! Too funny...and don't mind the fact that he isn't wearing pants....he has undies on under his shirt! Sometimes pants are just too much work!

Sunday FUN Day

The weekend after our Labor Day fun, we had more fun to come! First we went to a church family picnic where Owen got his face painted! I have to say I was totally impressed!

Unfortunately for Owen he had an allergic reaction to the face paint so he woke up all red and splotchy the next morning!

When got home from the picnic we got another surprise! Papa T was in town! And while the adults were catching up, Savannah created a human sized spider web in her room out of yarn!

After dinner we had a little family corn hole tournament and then went out for ice cream! Yum yum....

It was a very fun Sunday! :)

More Labor Day Fun

After the party on Saturday we stayed overnight and spent Sunday in Indiana too! We went to church and then to lunch over at Grant and Jessica's.

Attempting to get a picture of all 6 of the kids...
After lunch we went to a local apple orchard and had some caramel apples and apple cider slushies! Then the kids played on the playground.

Mike had more fun than the kids I think...

finally a group shot of all the kids with Grandma and Grandpa John
Before long we had to get ready to head home but before we did we stopped back by my Aunts to get our dog...and of course swing more!

And then another treat! We went over to my other Aunt's house and had dinner and the kids got to swim again!
It was a fast but super fun weekend and we were all tired on Monday but thankfully no work and school! We just stayed in our pajamas all day and tried to recover from all the fun :)

Labor Day in Indiana

This past weekend we took a little road trip to Indiana for a Labor Day picnic at my Aunt's house. The kids had a blast and I was really happy to get to see some of my extended family that I haven't seen in years.

They had a blast on this swing

The barns on my Aunts property which used to be my grandfathers

I have fond memories of playing in these barns as a kid and this weekend my kids got to play there too!

Playing in the sprinkler

Even Owen enjoyed the swing

Girl Time
After the party we went over to Grant and Jessica's house (Grandpa John's son and his wife) and the kids went swimming!

I kept telling the kids that they would see a corn field and all the ones around my Aunts were soybeans so we snapped this picture outside of church on Sunday morning
Stay tuned for more from Indiana...
