Trimming the Tree

So this year Christmas tree trimming is drastically different than previous years. Our artificial tree was starting to get rickety and the pre-lit lights quit working years ago and well it's huge! So we decided to leave it behind when we moved to Kentucky. Thankfully my mom bought the kids little 2 foot pre-lit trees as a little gift so we just planned on using them this year.

Needless to say, trimming the tree was a lot easier this year. Each child decorated their own so I didn't actually have to do much!

Owen's is blue, Savannah's is pink, and the purple one is Kate's

And while we were doing the trees, Mike did the lights on the house...so cute.
We aren't completely done with the house ( I need to get up in the attic) but it's beginning to look like Christmas around here :)

Mower Man

Poor Mike....here he is getting ready to go out and give the yard one last pre-winter mow. He is in jeans (a first), an undershirt, and long sleeved shirt, and a jacket!

The good news is that he hasn't mowed in 6 weeks and he won't be mowing again for a least 3 months!

We found the camera!!

Saturday was a very exciting day! Owen finally found my misplaced camera!!!!

Here he is showing me where it was -

I promised I looked in that chair 4 or 5 times but he was so proud of himself for finding it :)

And on another happy note, Mike found his wedding ring too!

The Price of Having a Toddler

So if you are wondering why I haven't updated my blog in a week, the easiest answer is Owen. This kid has a billion toys he can play with however any day of the week you can catch him playing with random objects like post-it pads, applesauce cups, loose change, or books. He loves to collect things, organize them, and then take pictures of them with my camera.

So yes it is definitely my fault for allowing him to borrow my camera but I seriously cannot believe we lost it inside our house!

And on a separate note, apparently Mike has fallen into this trap too...his wedding ring is currently missing!

Hope to have picture capabilities again soon! In the meantime, have a good laugh at our expense :)

Pizza for Dinner

The other night, the kids helped me make dinner by making their own pizza! They have done this before many times but for some reason it just never gets old! :)

We lost Savannah mid way through due to a tantrum (which are ridiculously frequent these days) but the pizza still turned out great!

Savannah Sings

Savannah has been a really busy girl lately. In addition to all her school activities, she also has quite the church life. She has been attending Wed night church since September and this week her class went to sing for a nursing home. All week she was talking about singing "for the old people" and how she was so excited. She even mentioned that she was going to have to sing "extra loud because the old people can't hear" :) So funny!

She insisted on dressing up for them!

Owen wanted to be important too! It just kills me how big he is getting!

Singing

The group did a great job and I think the residents really enjoyed them. They even did a puppet show. I just love her little generous spirit.

Snow!

I found out on Sunday while chatting with some ladies at church that it was supposed to snow on Tuesday so we were super excited! We talked about it for two days and I was really hoping that it actually would! On Tuesday morning I woke up early and ran downstairs to check! I was thrilled!

I really didn't want to wake the kids up early but Mike had to leave for work and he really wanted to see their reaction. As soon as they heard there was snow they bolted out of bed!

They had a great time playing in the snow but by the time they got home from school it had mostly all melted! So snowmen and snowball fights will have to wait...

Social Savannah

This weekend was really exciting for our Savannie. She was invited to go home from school with her friend on Friday, sleep over Friday night, and then go with her friend to her roller skating party! So when I dropped her at school Friday morning at 7:30 am I didn't see her again until 2:30 on Saturday afternoon! It was crazy!

Here she is skating. She has roller skates but has never skated at a rink before...she spend A LOT of time on the floor :)

Savannah and Bela the birthday girl
She says she had a great time and it appears she did well without us. My baby girl is really growing up!

Halloween...Or Rather the Day After

So who knew you could reschedule Halloween? Here in Lexington weather forecasts predicted that Thursday would be too dangerous for trick or treating due to 40+ mph winds so the entire county rescheduled it to Friday! I was sure we would still have people coming over on Thurs and since Owen was sick and couldn't go to church I ran out and bought and emergency supply of candy. We didn't have a single trick or treater! I am still amazed :) Kentucky people must be very cooperative!

So Friday evening rolled around and off we went to trick or treat around the neighborhood.

We had a Pirate, Cleopatra, and a Countess this year

Luckily Owen got a good dose of antibiotics and was feeling a little better

Family pic!

Just look at those gorgeous trees!!!

Off they go!

I couldn't get over how beautiful the leaves were!!
We only trick or treated for about 2 hours but my kids made out! We have candy overload going on here!

A Mess...

Ok so for the past 5 days or so I have been kind of a mess. First Owen got sick - for real. Fever, green drainage from nose and eyes, and screaming at 2 in the morning about ear pain. Then Halloween was a work day for me (called in sick), Mike's birthday, and trick or treating! Except we had horrible weather so they rescheduled trick or treating. Then my computer crashed....and I got Owen's sickness. It was a bad deal all around!

So I am kind of a mess. Totally behind on all technology and feeling pretty yucky! And since Mike doesn't share well, I have had no computer access for 4 days! And here in KY with no cable and a sick child I am going a little nutty!

So here are a few pics to catch up on!

Mike's B-day ice cream cake

Dressed up for Halloween...the girls went to church for a indoor trick or treat but Owen and I had to stay home because we were sick! He cried and cried!

The night of Halloween we had a bad storm come through...Friday morning, the deck had been cleared all to one side! They were report 40+ mph winds.

Finally Friday evening we were all able to do a little trick or treating around our neighborhood.
So I am hoping to post a few more Halloween pics as soon as I get myself back on track and a little less of a mess!

If this, then that....

If you see this,

Then you must have this!

And I always think of my sweet Mamaw when I make beef stew because she gave me the fabulous pot I make it in!
