On Sunday after church while Owen is sleeping Mike and I usually curl up on the couch and shoo the girls off to their rooms to play quietly. The general rule is we don't really care what they are doing as long as they don't wake up their brother. So I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised when I walked into the bathroom, but I was! Savannah had moved in!
And in normal Savannah fashion, she flipped when we told her she had to clean it up!

Carrie and Chase come to 'Tucky!
We haven't had any visitors since the 4th of July so we were super excited to have Carrie and Chase come to town for a visit.
On Thursday the girls has school so Carrie and I took the boys to Explorium and out to lunch!
Friday evening after dinner we decided to go for a quick dip at the pool!
It was a fast and fun couple of days and we were sad to see them go back home but we are super excited because we are planning on seeing them again soon!
Chase had a blast playing with all the new toys! |
They played pirates together! |

Newport Aquarium
One of my previous teaching co-workers moved to Indiana a few years ago and when I finally got on Facebook we realized we are only a few hours apart and decided to meet in the middle for a fun day at the aquarium in Cincinnati. She has a daughter Paisley about two years older than Owen.
We had a great time catching up and kiddos had a great time hanging out!

1st Week of School Success
The first three days of school went off without a hitch and we had some things to celebrate when the girls got home on Friday. Kate got a "merit" for following directions in her Language Arts class and Savannah got a "cool cat" from the librarian. I am so thankful that my girls are good in school!
And Savannah and I had a very sweet conversation in the car on the way home from school. She was explaining to me about their behavior system in her classroom. You are either a "bucket filler" or a "bucket dipper" . She was telling me all about the things you can do to be a bucket filler and to earn rewards. Then she got very quiet and serious and said, "Mom, bullies are bucket dippers." It was hilarious....if only adults were that easy!
And might as well give you a black eye update...
Here she is with her cool cat! |
Love this... |
We are moving into the green and yellow colors now! |

To ER or not to ER...
Savannah has taught me a lot....in trauma care. She has had me running to the emergency room more times than I care to remember. She has had bumps, bruises, stitches, teeth knocked loose, the works. And a few nights ago she did it again! We were in the car and somehow she managed to do this to herself with one of her toys.
Ouch! All I saw when I glanced back was a knot and dripping blood....ughhhh.
But thankfully, all those trips to the ER taught me something. Even if a head would looks bad, bleeds profusely, or swells as long as you don't suspect skull fractures or brain bleeding there isn't a whole lot the ER can do. So Motrin, ice, and an invitation to sleep with Mama....
Sad for her though, she will have to start first grade with a black eye!

Owen's 3 year Stats
I took Owen to the dr for his 3 year well check the other day. The dr said he was just absolutely perfect :)
Here are his stats:
Height - 38 1/4 inches
Weight- 35.4 pounds
That puts him in the 75th percentile for height and the 90th percentile for weight! I say it all the time, but I will say it again - I can't believe there was ever a time when we were worried about his growth! He is one big healthy boy!
Showing off his Cars shirts with matching Cars tattoos on his cheeks |

With Mommy and Daddy watching a 'big people" movie and the girls watching a "girly" movie, poor Owen had no choice but to watch Curious George on Netflix on Daddy's iPhone :) |
