Nashville

This past weekend, we took a little road trip to Nashville. It was a quick trip (just about 40 hours) but as usually we determined to pack in as much fun as we possibly could. And this time I think we managed to strike a balance between fun and not overloading our time!

Friday morning we dropped Mike off at his conference and went to the Adventure Science Center and Planetarium.

First time in an ambulance.....so thankful!!!!

Climbing down vertebrae

Checking out the different ways we can adapt things for people with disabilities

Owen's critter collage

This guitar was very cool!

Our first time visiting a planetarium

At about 2:30 we picked Mike up and went back to the hotel for a dip in the pool! Too bad the water was only 72 degrees! Brrrr...... But that enabled us to get an early dinner and get back to the hotel at a decent hour.

the girls tried fried pickles for the first time and loved them!

Just look at my kid....he is so obsessed with his sippy that he even has it in the hot tub with him!!! Sad......

Then Saturday morning we only had to entertain ourselves for a couple of hours so we went to Centennial Park to see the Parthenon.

Mike finished up with his conference right after lunch so we picked him up and we to take a stroll in the Opryland Hotel. It was gorgeous!!! Owen kept saying, "Dad......I like your hotel!"

my favorite picture....

the fish whisperer...

Owen wanted me to take a picture of him karate chopping the rock.....very impressive!

Then just before heading home we stopped off at one of my favorites! The Rainforest Cafe :)

girlie selfie....with bad lighting :(

We had great weather, great fun, and great family time!

King's Island!!!

Last weekend we got a major treat! While we were hanging out watching Owen play soccer my friend mentioned that she had 5 free tickets to King's Island that her family couldn't use and asked if we had plans. Well, even if we did we were going to change them! So right after the game we headed out!

Savannah was so annoyed that I made her ride this "baby ride" with her brother....but I think she secretly enjoyed it

a rare sight! They are usually hanging all over me! :)

Pretty girl with her new glasses!

This kid begged me to ride the helicopters!!! We stood in line for over 30 mins.....

Helicopter Selfie!
not sure this thing was worth the wait, but he loved it!

The girls

Family Water Ride! I love the girls faces!!! :)

The aftermath....we were soaked!

These things make me nervous for so many reasons....

While Mike and Kate went on a big ride, Savannah got her favorite treat! Sugar!!!

We only stayed for about 5 hours but it was enough fun for us! King's Island has been on our to do list for a while so we were so blessed to get the chance to go! We will definitely be back again :)

Lately

Lately it feels like we are just surviving.....

We are making it from one day to the next, one week to the next, and somehow September is three quarters of the way over! But as far as feeling rested and relaxed and prepared....not so much. So here is what all we've been up to lately!

Kate has had her round of yearly appts and some quarterly ones this month! Exhausting! But Owen got to tag along to the Ophthalmologist and he managed to get his own sticker and pair of shades out of the deal!

Sat am IHOP breakfast! As cute as this pancake was he couldn't even eat a third of it!

The night before the first day of my new Beth Moore bible study Kate mentions that it's Constitution Day tomorrow and could I please come to her school to watch the assembly?!?!?!? Seriously!!! Constitution Day???? But she is a tween and it's a rule that if a tween asks their parent to show up, the parent better show up! It won't be long before she's purposely not telling me about this stuff! :)  Oh, and I was 30 mins late to my bible study! But I am glad I got to be there...and snap that one pic on the sly so she wouldn't be mortified! :)

Work has been busy! Here are the 3's and 4's in Chapel this week. They were so cute!

Owen got to experience treasure box for the first time this week because of all his good behavior! Go Owen!

Savannah has been working on writing a friendly letter and she wrote this to her teacher Mrs. Preston although she calls her Mr. Peterson in the letter! It's so sweet! Why can't she be that nice to me?? She seriously told me this morning that my hair looked ridiculous and was I really going to drive her through the car line in my pajamas?

Savannah is quite the artist though......she made this for Owen

And this for her Papa T :)

And just this past Friday I got my first call from the school! Mike got one a couple of weeks ago and both incidents were involving falls from the monkey bars! This happened twice in PreK as well. One fall required an x-ray! Well when she got off the bus she was complaining of dizziness, blurry vision, and confusion! :) Apparently she was reading the symptoms of a concussions on her way home! Hey, at least she is reading! :)

I am really not sure if or when my life is going to be normal again. Normal might be a thing of the past! I really anticipated that having all three kids in school would make life easier! So far it's just been a lot more work but I am praying that we hit our groove soon or I might start hitting the bar! Just kidding.....maybe :)

School Changes

Now that Savannah has changed schools things are a little different than they used to be! Last year all she had to do for homework was review her sight words and practice writing them. It was easy peasy lemon squeezy! This year at her new school she has a weekly spelling list, a spelling packet, a homework packet, and a reading log! It's intense!!!

The first week Savannah really struggled with her spelling words and got a 70% on her test. This last week she did so much better and got a 90% on her test! Whoooo Hoooooo! Go Savannah!

2nd First Day

This past week Owen finally started his Tuesday/Thursday preschool class at Mom Time. So he had his second first day of preschool! And he loved it!!!

He adores his new teacher Ms. Vicki

Giving his classic thumbs up sign

They are BACK! Our program has doubled in size this year! It's been so great, but it is a lot of work!

And because of all that extra work, I am slipping a little! Three times I forgot to sign Savannah's agenda for school! Opps!
