So when we first rescued what we thought were moles, Owen kept calling them poles....which as his mother I thought was extremely cute! I also think the way he says fruit loops is cute. He calls them"froop loops" :) And when he says neighbors he uses a v sound like neigh-vers...adorable! But that is a whole other thing!
Turns out our "poles" were not really moles at all! While we were discussing the mole drama at the park with some of our church friends/neighbors they mentioned that it sounded more like rabbits. I insisted that no, these moles were black and they nicely pointed out that not all rabbits are white.....oh yeah! :) After doing a little internet research we have determined that we have indeed rescued 7 cottontail rabbits, not poles! So while it is easier to stomach having rescued cutie rabbits rather than 7 subterranean insectivores it does not change the fact that I now have babies at my house again!
We've been doing a lot of this!

So cute! |
I was surprised that he was so willing to hold them! |
She checked on them every morning before school |
After a couple days we lost a few of them :( |
And then a couple more :( :( |
So I got a special bottle feeder so they could get more formula |
They started to really look like little bunnies.... |
Sadly we lost the last two after 6 days! :( I am not really sure what happened to them but they went downhill really fast. I think we all learned a good lesson about nature and why wild animals should stay in the wild. I think next time we find a rabbit's nest, we are going to leave it and let nature take it's course!!!
