Walk to Cure Diabetes....JDRF

Yesterday was Kate's JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes event! It was an early start as check in was at 8:00 am at the UCF campus, but we made it on time :)

After checking in, we met some interesting "characters".

Thor!!! Owen actually has a Thor action figure!!!

Then we were off to the face painting tent!

At 9:30 they started the 5K walk!

We were ready to go!!!! The entire hour and a half we walked in about 85 degree heat I was thinking about my brother in law Jack who is an avid runner. He probably would have had it done in under 20 mins!!! I wish we could have!!!! Those babies were heavy even in the double stroller!

Once the crowd of 5,000 thinned out a bit, Kate was able to skate part of the way :) And we did eventually make it to the finish line!

But oh no, the fun wasn't over yet!!! We brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed some live music. Sorry the pics are blurry but we were loading up on the sunscreen all day!!

After a little food and some time in the shade, the girls had one more stop to make - bouncy house!!!!

This event was tons of fun!! Thank you so much to everyone who donated for Team Kate!! She had a goal of raising $100 but ended up raising $300!!! Everyone was so generous :) It was great for her to see other kids with diabetes and to know that people are working to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes!!! Thank you!
